Help for Families When They Need it Most
A social worker with more than 15 years of experience is now serving as the Admissions Coordinator for United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Canton.
Tanya Trotter came to United Helpers as a Social Worker Assistant after working as a Social Worker for 15 years at a nursing home Massena. In July of 2021 Ms. Trotter left the organization as a result of the pending closure of Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Ogdensburg, but her time away was not long.
“I’ve been back for about two-and-a-half months,” she said. “I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to work at United Helpers again and hope to have many more years of employment with this great company.”
As admissions coordinator, Ms. Trotter processes applications and referrals for skilled nursing, and short-term rehabilitation patients, as well as those seeking admission into Assisted Living.
“Since I began my career as a social worker, I was excited to get back into the route of why I went into Social Work in the first place,” she said. “I enjoy listening and conversing with individuals and being able to offer information and resources to them, knowing I was able to be there to lend an ear or assist them in their time of need.”
Ms. Trotter lives in Massena with her life partner of 17 years. The couple share three children and four grandchildren, with a fifth on the way soon. They also have a Yorkshire terrier and a Labradoodle.
